We were delighted to welcome colleagues from the Fremdspracheninstitut der Landeshauptstadt München (FIM) to LINCS recently. Their visit provided a valuable opportunity to celebrate the success of our long-standing partnership and to explore new ways of working together in the years ahead.
FIM graduates continue to progress to our MSc Translation and Interpreting programme, and the visit offered an excellent chance to showcase the learning environment and opportunities available to our postgraduate students. During their time on campus, our guests observed translation and interpreting practice sessions, toured our specialist facilities, and met with colleagues across the Department.
Beyond highlighting the strengths of our existing collaboration, discussions also focused on future opportunities, including how we can further enhance student mobility, academic exchange, and collaborative activities following the UK’s return to Erasmus+.
The visit combined productive conversations with the warm hospitality for which Scotland is known. Although our visitors travelled during Munich’s world-famous Oktoberfest celebrations, we were pleased to provide an equally memorable Scottish welcome, complete with a full range of autumn weather, from sunshine to wind and rain, sometimes all within the same afternoon!
International partnerships such as this play a vital role in enriching the student experience, fostering intercultural understanding, and creating new academic and professional opportunities for staff and students alike. We look forward to building on our strong relationship with FIM and continuing to work together to support the next generation of translation and interpreting professionals.
